Adam: “See Reqtest AI as Your Colleague”

In the spring of 2025, Reqtest launched its first AI functionality to simplify requirements writing in IT projects. Since then, many organizations have started using the feature. In this article, Adam Anderberg, Senior Customer Success at Reqtest, answers common AI-related questions and shares his tips on how to maximize the value of the functionality.

How are Reqtest customers using the AI feature?

“There are many use cases, but something I’ve seen with several customers is that the business side describes how they want the system to work, and then uses Reqtest AI to clarify the requirements and, for example, add acceptance test criteria. This saves time for the requirements manager while ensuring real business value.”

What is the advantage of this approach?

“The AI eliminates the most time-consuming parts of requirements management: formulating, structuring, and breaking down requirements. You don’t have to start from scratch — the AI generates drafts in seconds. For example, it can take a high-level business need and suggest a structured list of requirements, each with its own acceptance criteria. If you’ve also provided instructions to the AI via forms, you ensure that requirements are written with consistent quality regardless of the individual or their experience. That makes a huge difference in quality and significantly simplifies testing later on.”

Will you be launching AI for testing?

“Absolutely. We’re currently working on AI for testing, but we’ll be releasing other functionality first, including features for accessibility and the agile board. Even today, the AI feature can already be used to write test cases, although it wasn’t specifically built for that purpose. For example, you can already get suggested test cases with test steps and expected results based on a requirement.”

What advice would you give to others who want to get started?

“See Reqtest AI as a colleague rather than a replacement. It does the heavy lifting for you: structuring, clarifying, and ensuring consistency. But as a requirements manager, it’s still your responsibility to set the framework, ensure quality, and make the final judgment.”

How do you start using Reqtest AI?

“First of all, we need to enable the AI functionality so you can use it. Contact your CSM and we’ll help you get started and show you how to make the most of AI.”

More ways to use AI for requirements

  1. Create requirements from headings
Enter a heading and let the AI generate a suggested requirement description.
  2. Improve and evolve existing requirements
AI can expand or refine your text, identify improvements, and add perspectives you may have missed.
  3. Condense or restructure text
Need a more concise requirement? Let AI shorten or reorganize the content.
  4. Follow the project’s style and structure
As a requirements manager, you can give the AI instructions that are applied consistently across all users’ requirements — for example, always using specific terminology or structuring content as a list of user stories.
